Rafael López Camejo is a live sound engineer based in Houston, Texas, and the founder of Resolution AV. He is a conservatory-trained musician first: violin from the age of seven, seven years at Cuba's Vocational School of Art, then a degree in opera at the ISA University of Arts Conservatory, graduating with a Golden Degree. He went on to study composition and orchestration at Sheridan College in Toronto, and mixing and mastering under Stuart Brawley, the Juno-nominated Canadian producer and mixer behind records for Don Henley, Michael Jackson, and Céline Dion.
As a performer, Rafa spent years as a professional bass player — including a stint with Derev, Toronto's progressive metal outfit, whose Middle Eastern-rooted sound has drawn press across the prog-rock world. Since moving to Houston, he's played with artists across the city.
For thirteen years he did both at once — running sound and playing live music side by side — until a year ago, when he made sound his full-time focus. That background is the whole point: he mixes with a musician's ear, not just a technician's. Along the way he composed for film, games, and corporate clients — including nine CEO videos for CIBC — and has run sound everywhere from festival main stages (Bayou City Art Festival) to houses of worship (The Journey at MDUMC) to touring country acts.
